OC, AU, or CRAU History:
AU Info Here
- Born Kamoko Shinoda to Giovani and his wife, Maria.
- Maria died two years later in birth; Kamoko's brother was lost as well.
- Kamoko was raised to exacting standards as the daughter of a Gymleader, a business man AND a crime boss, more so once it was known how smart she was.
- At the age of 6, she was betrothed to one Haru Nakamura of the Umiyari yakuza group up in Sinnoh. Though the pair only met once, their fathers more or less kept in contact with each other.
- 1996 is the year everything changed. In no short order, she briefly met Satoru Oak outside her father's gym, and then, following the events of the first game, her father vanishes during a police raid on the Gym. In the aftermath, Ariana steps up to help raise the girl, who by now is going by 'Silver' because 'it's cool'.
- Shortly after Ariana vanishes a few years later, a 14-year-old Silver travels to Johto with the idea of buying a Starter pokemon and journeying there to start with. This is partly fuelled by the idea that Johto Starters looked cooler than Kanto's and partly because she thought them stronger. Silver arrives in New Bark town and witnesses the Leaving Ceremony, watching on with envy and bitterness. Three days later, driven by entitlement, Silver steals a totodile and from there, events of the Pokemon Crystal Games take place.
- To summerise, though, Silver teleports to the outskirts of Cherrygrove, where she runs into Kris and Kotone. Here, they battle Kris for the first time, declaring that a pokemon like her cyndaquil is wasted on her. Silver wins and after rubbing it in, continues to travel Johto both seeking strong pokemon and coming to terms with the name Niko and the idea that they are a 'they' and not a 'she'. Along the way, they briefly bump into the girls at Bellsprout Tower, then battle Kotone at the Ruins of Alph, run into Kris again outside Azalea where this time they lose, see Kotone and Kris at the Burned Tower, though they only battle Kotone while Kris watches on.
- They again bump into Kris outside the Olivine Gym, and bitch to her about how 'weak the Gymleader is for closing the Gym to take care of a sick pokemon', never mind said pokemon is one of the Lighthouse pokemon used to guide ships into the harbour safely. They have another battle, with Niko winning this one.
- While on Cianwood Island, Niko gets wind of a newly caught powerful sneasel, and steals it from its trainer.
- While sneaking into the Rocket base at Mahogany, they run into the Champion, Clair, who alongside Lance, is investigating the happenings in the area on behalf of Pryce. Niko and Clair battle and Niko loses, badly, forcing them to scuttle plans to stop team Rocket. Unbeknown to Niko, this marks a turning point in how they think about pokemon (and even more unknown to them, Lance being there prevented Clair from doing a murder.)
- Niko retreats to Goldenrod and ends up tailing Kris and Kotone, only to get into a fight with them just outside the Goldenrod Tunnel. Again, they lose and bitter and angry, they storm off, ostensibly to do some much-needed soul searching.
- Victory Road sees them lose, yet again, to Kris. Annoyed and unable to figure out what they are doing Wrong, Niko retreats back to Blackthorn to have a talk with one of the Dragon Clan elders and ends up doing some training with them under Lance. They don't stay for long, as they head back to Kanto, and while training their golbat, they end up being chased off a cliff by an angry ursarang. In a panic, they release the pokemon, only to find it's now a crobat.
- It's around this time that Niko moves in to make use of the Rockets. Complicated feelings aside, the criminal organisation is useful, and it's a part of life that Niko knows.
- Month's later, they end up facing Kris at Mount Moon in a battle they lose but rather than be upset like the new Champion expects, they take the loss to their rival with grace, proving how much they have grown up, or at least enough to have control over their temper.
- They gain ownership a baby lugia following a skirmish with poachers.
- They re-gained control of the Rockets following a modified version of Let's Go Pikachu Eevee that saw Archer make a power-play to push Niko out from their role as Boss Rocket, only for the man to end up in jail and Niko to remain the shadowy head while presenting a clean enough image to the outside world.
- And then months later, they visit the man in jail and learn that the betrothal contract is ironclad.
- Ten days later, they marry Haru up at Sinnoh, and then a year and a day later, the are truly married in a ceremony fit for a Gymleader.
- They are parent to a pair of three-year-old twin girls by the name of Natsuki and Satsuki.

Personality:
Right from birth, Niko, birthname Kamoko, was pitted against Giovanni's expectations, and following the death of their mother and brother in childbirth, Giovanni's grief and resentment of the girl who survived. In a matriarchal society such as Arkea, being born a girl should have been enough. It wasn't, not when Giovanni had wanted a son. Niko grew up knowing they were not enough, that no matter how well they excelled, they were measured against the what if's of a dead brother.

When Rocket collapsed and Giovanni abandoned them to the aftermath, Kamoko grew into Niko with a festering resentment in place of nurture and that resentment only grew when Ariana left them, too. By the time they left on their journey, they were an abrasive, entitled youth, contemptuous of weakness that they proved through bullying, theft, and mockery. But those cruelties were scaffolding designed to hide the hurt within, not a not foundation of things to come. Underneath, they longed for love, trust, and a chance to believe themselves worthy of the love of their father.

What they got was a chance to prove that they didn't need it; that other people could fill that void and could like them for who they are - even if who they are is a contradictory mess of a person still growing into who they are: a brass person with a heart of copper buried somewhere in all of the rust.

That contradiction is the heart of Niko: a predator’s grin masking the ache of abandonment and loneliness. A contempt for the world shielding the raw need for recognition and approval.

Somehow, they make everything - trainer, Gym Leader and protector of the Viridian Subregion, and Boss Rocket, work. Being all of that and making it work is something they take great pride in and Niko would give everything to keep their subregion safe, and it's not a stretch to say they are rather possessive about what is theirs. Never mind that Gym Leaders work closely with the Pokemon League and are seen as Law Abiding Citizens, and the Boss of a Crime Gang is mired in a life of crime and violence. Somehow, it works because Niko puts in the effort.

Somehow they are friends with Kris and Kotone despite how abrasive they can be and how they keep people at arms length despite calling Kris their best friend. Somehow, they have a crobat, an umbreon and a few other friendship based pokemon. Somehow they saw past the hurt and cruelty of youth and earned these pokemon and Niko delight's in the mindfuck that this presents to people who view them as too harsh and tyrannical.

Niko’s views on pokemon are best described as complicated. On one hand, they and their team have been through a lot, and they own a crobat—which you don’t get without friendship. Yet this friendship is unconventional, forged through trial and error, since Niko still largely believes Pokémon are things that exist to battle and be used. They push their team to be the strongest, though they are at least trying to think more about them than before. Yet that doesn’t erase the implied abuse or harsh treatment, nor that they demand perfection. Sure, they’re trying—but not in the way a typical trainer would.

They're not afraid to turn their pokemon on people, either. They know well the intimidation factor a gengar has, for example.

Niko’s relationship with Rocket is as complicated as everything else. As a child, they loved it: Rocket meant Giovanni, meant belonging. Then they hated it: Rocket meant abandonment, meant ruins they had to climb out of alone. Then, finally, it has its uses: Rocket is structure, muscle, and resources. When they took up the mantle of Boss, it was with a pragmatic shrug. Rocket was useful, so they would use it.

Their relationship with Haru is complicated in many, many ways, but Niko respects her greatly - she is more than just some pretty trophy wife, more than a tool of the Umiyari. She is her own person and Niko will do everything in their power to protect that. That she too was raised in crime is a bonus. That is just as smart and ruthlessly intelligent as them is an extra, not a flaw.

Also she's terrifying with knives.
